God with us

Father, help me remember that You are always with me, that no matter how heavy the burden seems, I will be able to shoulder it for You will be by my side. Help me find comfort and peace in the constant understanding of Your infinite love, of the gift of Your salvation, and of the steadfast presence that it entails. Allow me to take refuge in Your Holy name when I feel overwhelmed or frustrated, and rather than letting anger grow in me, let me find solace in Your presence.

Peace of the Shepherd

Father God, thanks for being with me always.  Thanks especially for sticking close during my life’s tough times and being my anchor during them.  Help me to know that, no matter what’s going on, You have it covered.  Grant me what I need to be able to endure,  and that includes Your peace that passes understanding.  Thanks in advance for working all these bad things for my good like You word promises.  You know I love You and look forward to being with You for eternity.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.. Psalm 23:1-3

I am Yours

Dear God, I thank You that because I love You and have made You Lord over my life, You are my heavenly Father and I am an heir of Your kingdom. Thank You that even though I am needy in spirit without You, I am rich and prosperous in my soul because of all You have done for me. Thank You that though I was poor in spirit, You have chosen me to be rich in faith. Help me to always remember that I am Your child and I have a rich inheritance in You, both now and for eternity.

Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? James 2:5

Uncertain Outcomes

Heavenly Father, I approach the throne of grace today on behalf of those of us who are living in difficult stories, like Habakkuk, with unsettling circumstances and uncertain outcomes. I’m so thankful you always welcome us in our brokenness, never despise us in our anxiousness, and thoroughly understand our weariness. You, alone, are grace-full—bidding us cast our cares on you, even as you are prepared to catch everyone of them.

I pray for those of us facing uncertain outcomes in difficult jobs, legal proceedings, financial stress, parenting challenges, global fears, and in any of a number of hard providences—though we may not yet see and fig leaves, grape buds, olive blooms, or baby calves, grant us a centering inner joy—knowing the gospel is true, we are your beloved children, and you are in complete control of all things. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus trustworthy name.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17-18

The Road Ahead

Lord, I’ve come a long way already and I can not give enough praises to You for all the blessings I am given. Yet I know there is still uncertainty and challenges ahead, and weariness makes me sensitive to the devil’s whisperings.

Please, my Savior, my Friend, keep holding my hand so that the road does not scare me anymore. Make it so that I joyfully accept that I can’t possibly understand Your plan for me and that, therefore, all I can do is follow the path ahead.

Protect me from the evil one, Christ Jesus, keep him away and wrap your love around me a little more tightly. Make me feel Your presence always, like a thick comforting blanket, so that I can welcome the last weeks of my winter with more grace and trust.

If it is Your will for me, Lord, open these gates I see ahead of me. Let me enter soon that call You have prepare for me. Let me see Your footprints, and in them plant my own. Guide me, call me, draw me and uphold me to the end, my Savior and my friend. Amen.

Unfailing Strength

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace, then. Put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations, and say continually:

“The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in Him and I am helped. He is not only with me but in me, and I in Him.”

Spring is coming

Heavenly Father, we give You thanks for the eternal promise of spring, that renewal and light that always follow even the darkest of season. We give praise for Your steadfastness that allow us to walk with confidence in our winters and our nights, knowing that hope is always recompensed in some way.

We give You thanks also for the snows and ice of winter as they cover the land as it sleeps, as it rests. Help us to not be so shortsighted at the beauty that is every season but rather keep us reminded that You have a plan and that every season has its purpose. Amen

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
