Good Works at work

Dear Heavenly Father,

I want to thank you for the job I have.  Many people are jobless today and you have provided a place where I can help support my family and bring in an income.

I want to serve you in every facet of my life—not just at home and with my family, but at work and in other areas where I am needed as well.

Sometimes the stress gets to me and I forget to lean on you when the pressure is intense. There are no reminders in my secular environment that you are available to me twenty-four hours a day. I don’t want to wait until things get too overwhelming for me before I remember to come to you.  Help me to keep you at the forefront of my mind and heart.

Lord, there are many people who know that I am a Christian and many people who do not.  I want your reputation to precede me and guide my actions and reactions to the issues life brings my way.

Help me to be a good witness in the honest way I deal with my business and the respect I give to others. Help me to inspire my coworkers to strive toward righteousness. Help me resist the devil’s way – i know he wants to tempt me away from you.

Let your light so shine through me that I draw people to me.  Bless me with good working environment, favor and a life that is so amazing others will want to know what is the source of my blessing.  Let me always remember to give the credit back to you, Lord.

In Jesus’ precious name, guard my mouth and the testimony that my life reflects upon the God I serve.  Amen.

Prayer for a Long Distance Relationship

Dear Lord, I know that I have been beautifully and wonderfully made, and I thank you for my life and for Your love.

Thank you, also, for granting me a partner who is also beautifully and wonderfully made, who shows me some of Your character, and who brings me joy and fulfillment in ways I didn’t even know I needed!

You are a gracious and loving God and I thank you for giving us the gift of being able to share that love with one another.

Lord, You know my heart, and You know that I would much rather have my partner from far away than not at all.

You also know that sometimes my heart aches with the desire to be near my partner: to share life’s joys and to comfort each other when life is hard; to laugh together, to play together, and to be able to look one another in the eye and say “I love you,” even when resolving conflicts.

I know that You have a plan for us, and that Your plan is much better than one that I could devise. Right now it is so hard for us to be away from each other, so please, Lord, fill us with strength for the journey.

Help us recognize the value in each day, and to see each day as a new opportunity. Fill our hearts with compassion, understanding, and creativity to keep us strong when the pain seems too difficult to bear.

And please, Lord, if you will, help us find a way to be together soon.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Strenght for the Weary

Lord, You have the name that is above all names. You are Lord forever and there is no one who can challenge Your authority and power. You rule forever and ever, and there is no end to Your Kingdom.

I bring myself before Your throne of grace, and ask that You would look upon me with Your favor. Your word says that You give rest to the weary and burdened, so I ask that You would strengthen me. Bless me Lord with Your presence, and encourage my heart. Remind me of Your faithfulness and Your love that my soul might stand in faith against the issues that I face and find the rest I so desire.

I bind the schemes of the enemy to tear me down, and I rebuke the spirits that have been assigned to harass me. I ask You Lord to minister fresh strength and joy to me. I agree with Your word that says Your yoke is easy and Your burden light, and I believe Your plans for me are to give me hope and a future. Let it be so, according to Your will. I pray in Jesus mighty name, Amen!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Belonging to the Body of Christ

Help me, Father, to find the place where you made me to fit into Jesus’ body, the church. Until I know my exact place to serve and use my gifts, I pledge to work in all sorts of ministries so that your Spirit, and not just my own preference, will guide me into your place for me to serve. Thank you for giving me a place not only to belong, but to also serve and be a part of Jesus’ bodily presence in the world. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4-5

Take my life

Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to You. Help me trust that, as you have always care for me with steadfast love, so You will only take me where I can serve you in the best possible way. Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Your love. Do not let me be afraid and convinced by evil whispering that I don’ have enough to offer. Take my intellect and use every power as You choose : I know, Lord, that You are going to bring me challenges and opportunities that I will be able to seize for my fulfillment but especially for Your glory. Take my will and make it Yours, Father: it shall be no longer mine as I serve and trust in You.

Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it’s all for Thee.

Rock of my life

O Rock, Fortress of my life, I place myself in your care. Take charge of my future and use me for your glory. In you I take refuge and on your strength I rely to make my days worthwhile. In the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Psalm 62:7
