Lights against Fear and Doubt

3am glass of water

Abba Father, yesterday I was reminded that only a child would wake up a king at 3am for a glass of water or because of a nightmare. You are the King of kings and You generously grant us that kind of access to You and Your heart, always. Remind me of that wonderful truth and keep me steadfast in my trust of Your loving kindness toward me. Keep my heart fixed on Your fatherly care for me, on Your tender promises for my well being. Do not let me get lost in worries, fears and doubts, like a child gets overwhelmed by night terrors. Wrap me in Your warm embrace and make me brave as You whisper that I am Your beloved child and that You are with me always. In Your Son’s Holy name I pray, AMEN.

“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (Matt 6:8)

Lights against Fear and Doubt

Dear Lord, as my loved ones and I await the results of medical tests about my affliction, let us offer you our anxieties for our good and your glory. Calm us in our worries, knowing these don’t add wisdom but rather stress to this situation. Enlighten us, though the power of your Spirit, to make wise decisions as to treatment. Help us not to turn away from You in these fragile, painful moments, but rather towards you for grace and strength. Comfort us in seeking you now as we place all our concerns in your loving hands as we say “Thy Will Be Done.”

Have no anxiety, but in every prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. (Phil 4:6)

God with us

Father, help me remember that You are always with me, that no matter how heavy the burden seems, I will be able to shoulder it for You will be by my side. Help me find comfort and peace in the constant understanding of Your infinite love, of the gift of Your salvation, and of the steadfast presence that it entails. Allow me to take refuge in Your Holy name when I feel overwhelmed or frustrated, and rather than letting anger grow in me, let me find solace in Your presence.

Peace of the Shepherd

Father God, thanks for being with me always.  Thanks especially for sticking close during my life’s tough times and being my anchor during them.  Help me to know that, no matter what’s going on, You have it covered.  Grant me what I need to be able to endure,  and that includes Your peace that passes understanding.  Thanks in advance for working all these bad things for my good like You word promises.  You know I love You and look forward to being with You for eternity.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.. Psalm 23:1-3

Strenght for the Weary

Lord, You have the name that is above all names. You are Lord forever and there is no one who can challenge Your authority and power. You rule forever and ever, and there is no end to Your Kingdom.

I bring myself before Your throne of grace, and ask that You would look upon me with Your favor. Your word says that You give rest to the weary and burdened, so I ask that You would strengthen me. Bless me Lord with Your presence, and encourage my heart. Remind me of Your faithfulness and Your love that my soul might stand in faith against the issues that I face and find the rest I so desire.

I bind the schemes of the enemy to tear me down, and I rebuke the spirits that have been assigned to harass me. I ask You Lord to minister fresh strength and joy to me. I agree with Your word that says Your yoke is easy and Your burden light, and I believe Your plans for me are to give me hope and a future. Let it be so, according to Your will. I pray in Jesus mighty name, Amen!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Hero of Love

Lord, help me be courageous like those who have a job where one’s life is willingly put on the line every day. Help me face fear and adversity with their levelheadedness and brave resolve.  Show me also discipline, so that my efforts in strengthening my mind and body might lead to good results, so that I may shoulder whatever tasks, tackle whatever challenge You send my way. Above all, though, Father, give me the eyes to see the world with Your mercy, so that the hate of the world may be met, in me, with a love akin to Your steadfast grace.

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

Uncertain Outcomes

Heavenly Father, I approach the throne of grace today on behalf of those of us who are living in difficult stories, like Habakkuk, with unsettling circumstances and uncertain outcomes. I’m so thankful you always welcome us in our brokenness, never despise us in our anxiousness, and thoroughly understand our weariness. You, alone, are grace-full—bidding us cast our cares on you, even as you are prepared to catch everyone of them.

I pray for those of us facing uncertain outcomes in difficult jobs, legal proceedings, financial stress, parenting challenges, global fears, and in any of a number of hard providences—though we may not yet see and fig leaves, grape buds, olive blooms, or baby calves, grant us a centering inner joy—knowing the gospel is true, we are your beloved children, and you are in complete control of all things. So very Amen we pray, in Jesus trustworthy name.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17-18
